The idea behind the ̈Feathered Bear ̈ comes from our intention to have every child

physically involved in the project and to visually represent the idea of community

and kindness. All the little contributions form one design. In this case, the bear’s

coat. The school has 600 students which is what makes our school great and part of

our design challenge. We reflected on the wildlife of the area and its history, focusing on Meersbrook park and its relation to the Ruskin Museum and ideas around

wellness and self fulfillment. The bears  ̈coat ̈ also draws on ideas of identity and

freedom.
